Rustic, beautiful, large house right on the lake. Nicely renovated kitchen with gorgeous lake views on the second, main floor. Small but comfortable bedrooms (one on second floor, two to three on 3rd floor). The bottom floor was more of a large game room with tv that we used to access the boats and dock. The fish weren't biting for the teenage boys that fished tirelessly but the trip was a huge success and everyone had a great time. No air conditioning (though window units were offered) but this time of year the large windows and lake breezes were plenty to keep things cool. Looked for firewood for the small portable pit out back and eventually found some in a barrel full of rain water. Nice grill with full propane tank. Canoes and life vests were used continuously with a nice dock and swimming platform. Played golf a five minute walk away at the local Morey Resort and rented a pontoon boat one day as well from the local marina (V bottom boats were already rented so call ahead - note the lake is about 5 miles around if walking or biking or 500 acres so not huge by any means but big enough - so not a lot of space to really open up a faster boat). The house was very clean and inviting. We never had an issue nor need to call our host Marie. I'd recommend a stay here for anyone anytime as it's probably just as pretty in winter with an iced over lake.
We were an extended family group, 2 generations of adults, in the Upper Valley for a long weekend for a family memorial service. The house nicely accommodated all 8 of us in the 5 bedrooms we needed because not all of us were couples. (We did spill over into the lower level, where an uncle slept on the futon and found it quite satisfactory.) The large and well-equipped kitchen was a great gathering place, and the views of the lake in all weathers were spectacular and addictive. The upstairs bedrooms have no closets, but we adjusted as we discovered plenty of space (and hangers) in the hall closets downstairs. There was plenty of hot water for multiple showers, and in the (brief) moments of sunshine, some of us took a turn on the lake in the kayaks and canoes that we were invited to use. WiFi and cell service were consistent and fine (not a given in this part of Vermont), and electrical outlets plentiful. We enjoyed the ongoing process of discovering the many fascinating knicknacks and mementoes all over the house! We had a few glitches with keys and plumbing, and Marie took care of both promptly and cheerfully. Our deposit was returned in full, also promptly. Friends who saw our photos on Facebook asked about this gorgeous place and we have already recommended it more than once.
