Outside, Poipu Makai has a small plunge pool area, gas BBQ and dining patio. We also own a unit next door in Poipu Palms a few steps away and as our guests you are welcome to use their oceanfront pool, expansive decks, cabana, lava rock shower and large charcoal grill as well.

My wife and twin sons (now 17 years of age) have been to Kauai six times and this condo is by far the best accommodations we have experienced. The condo is right on the ocean and the views are really special, especially looking west toward Poipu beach and beyond. This time we were joined by my brother and his wife, and there was more than enough room for the six of us. We loved going out on the patio for breakfast each morning, watching the waves crash over the volcanic rock shore and the turtles ride the swells. And the patio was also a great spot to watch the sunset in the evenings, too. The upstairs entertainment area, with the very big screen TV was a great place to relax after sunset and a full day of activities. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We would return in a heartbeat.

The views are absolutely spectacular and the hosts David and Kim are attentive and helpful. The condo is well appointed with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed our stay. Note to those traveling with seniors and/or younger kids: there is no AC which was fine for most in our party but could be a consideration for some others. We would recommend to those wanting a true local Kauai experience!

Gorgeous condo overlooking the ocean- with views of turtles and dolphins! Close to excellent restaurants and easy drives to gorgeous Kauai sites like Waimea, excursions and trails on Napali coast. Note no air conditioning (no issue though as a beautiful breeze is constant and many fans are provided if needed) and 2 flight of stairs down (from parking) and 2 flights of stairs up to condo but worth it if stairs aren't not an issue for you. The scenery can't be beat and we loved our stay here!! Great communication by owners Dave and Kim. Highly recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Overall the property was very well kept and nicely decorated!! We were a party of three couples. There were three bedrooms. The property offers three full baths as well which is nice but one was a hall bathroom. Probably for our group, three private bathrooms would have been better. We would recommend this property for sure for anybody going to Kauai! The kitchen was very well equipped and the owners also provided Beach stuff (snorkeling equipment, Beach chairs, towels, whatever you need. The location is perfect!

The best word to describe our experience is AWESOME. The condo was VERY comfortable for our family of six and completely set up with just about everything we needed for our two week stay, except of course food. The owners David and Kim were in contact with us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed, and responded immediately to the one item we asked for. The hardest thing we had to deal with frankly was saying goodbye to it at the end of our stay. We most definitely will visit again if David and Kim are still offering the unit. We had a wonderful time! 5 Stars doesn't cover it!!

This property is conveniently located to shops and restaurants in Koloa and Poipu. Easy walk or short drive to Poipu Beach and easy access to/from Lihue airport and to major shopping stops like Safeway and Costco on the way. A well supplied kitchen and great view made it a perfect place to eat in some nights and dine out others. Several good restaurants within 5-10 minute drive. Our favorite was Red Salt. Only criticism would be that the community pool was very small and appeared in need of cleaning the first few days we were there but this was not important to us.

I have to come back to the condo unit itself. Once you are there you won't want to leave. The view, the crashing surf and the warm wind never get old and you just have to decide which room or lanai to stock with your favorite island food and drink and take it all in...

This is located on the rocky beach in a small condo complex nestled among the larger Poipu hotels, with a small central pool and shared grill. It was easy to get to the condo from the parking, unlike many larger resorts, and the ocean front views were unbeatable. We saw seals, turtles, and whales right from the deck. In fact, we did a snorkel cruise up the NaPali Coast (highly recommend) but saw more whales and turtles from the condo! The condo was exceptionally well stocked with everything from beach toys, towels, mats, coolers, and boogie boards, to shampoo, saran wrap, and spices. It was recently remodeled which shows, and is well loved and cared for. Like most places in Kauai, it doesn't have AC, but there are fans in all the rooms. The owners communicate well and were very responsive. It was a great choice for our family of 5 and would be even for a slightly larger family. You will love it!

We stayed in this condo for 8 nights in late February. When we summed up what we liked best about our Kauai vacation everyone in our group agreed that it was the porch/patio of our own condo. We ended up eating in most nights and dined on the covered porch. Six of us fit comfortably as we enjoyed a glass of wine while watching the magnificent sunsets. Sea turtles dined on algae around the rocks and were visible all day long. We hunted for whale blows and breaches and always had some success. Spinner dolphin surprised us a few times as well. At night the sound of the waves put us to sleep and the birds woke us in the morning. From our patio we saw a dark blob on Poipu Beach to our right. Binoculars confirmed that it was a resting monk seal.

A couple who lived on Kauai for five years accompanied us and agreed that our location was one of the best on the island for the view. Don't hesitate to book this unit. It is comfortable and its sights and sounds are romantic and nourishing. We hated to leave. I hope that we are lucky enough to stay here again someday. Most of our best pictures that we took were taken right from our own condo. It deserves a ten star rating. Thanks to the owners for sharing their house with us. We loved it!
