Located beachfront on Mexico's tranquil Sea of Cortez, Casa Cardonal is an exquisite private estate with a pristine sandy beach, swimmable water, infinity pool, Jacuzzi and extensive outdoor seating and dining areas. Our guests enjoy world-class fishing, kayaking and ATV exploration in and around the casual fishing village of El Cardonal.
This private one acre compound, built in 2005, and is available for rental by the day (4 night minimum), week, or month.
The Casa its 4,000 square feet of dramatically open space provides spectacular views of the water and room for entertaining a crowd. The Casa includes all the modern amenities including satellite TV, a built-in stereo system, wireless internet, and a “state of the art” kitchen with wine coolers, warming drawers, 6-burner gas range, and microwave.
The 2,000 sq. ft. Casita (guest house) offers a full kitchen, living area with fireplace, and two bedrooms with en suite baths, sleeping up to 6 additional guests.
In addition to the estate itself, what sets Casa Cardonal apart is the staff that we have to serve you. Octavio will provide your transportation to and from the airport and offers numerous excursions to anywhere you might want to go in the Baja area. He also offers guided ATV tours that allow you to go much farther than you might on your own, including a trip up the arroyo to see the ancient petroglyphs.
Francesca provides catering services and makes amazing meals including all of the bounty of the sea, delicious steak dinners and, of course, traditional Mexican fare.
Mino is your onsite caretaker and the boat captain for the Casa's 25ft fishing panga. He is at your service to take you fishing, golfing (25 minute boat ride), on an ecotour to the area's best snorkeling or to Isla Cerralvo (a pristine uninhabited island with amazing shells, turtle nests and sandy beaches). Mino is an excellent fisherman. He won the Los Barriles Dorado Fishing Derby in 2005 and helped one of our guests land a 550 pound black marlin in September of 2010. It is one thing to hook a fish like this; it is another to get it into a 25ft panga!
We provide a concierge ) to show you around the place and explain the features of the Casa and the area. Their job is to help you plan your vacation and arrange anything you need. Maria Luisa is your housekeeper and will arrive each day to make the beds, wash the dishes, and do whatever laundry you want done. You will want to stay forever!

We spent 5 days here in January and unfortunately, the weather was extra windy so didn’t get to enjoy the outdoors as much as we would’ve liked to, but regardless it was an amazing house and very well-equipped for our family that ranged in age from 2 to 64. Tons of beach toys. Such a sweet little town, deserted beach. Caretaker and housekeeper very nice and helpful. Can’t wait to go back and thanks for everything!
We stayed two weeks and dreaded leaving. Outstanding facility. Responsive hosts. Hope we get to go back.
We truly had a wonderful trip. The house is just amazing and the food/help was exceptional. The owner and staff really go out of your way to make things special. We traveled with young kids and adult friends. It was perfect for all ages. I cannot say enough good things about the accommodations and people helping out to make our vacation relaxing and fun!
My wife, 5 kids (ages 1-9) as well as their cousins (2 more adults + 6 kids) all stayed for a week in February. The vacation was fantastic. We travel all over the world, and this is one of the few experiences that EXCEEDED our expectations going in, which is a truly rare occurrence. First, here's what's great - the house is much larger than the pictures show. Our group all fit with ease and in beds (granted some small kids were sharing queen beds). The outdoor space is fantastic. Huge covered space in addition to uncovered space. There was nothing as exquisite as standing at the massive back doors wide open letting the ocean breeze hit you and seeing the waves crash against the beach mere feet away. We had all meals catered which was fantastic and made the experience easier and more enjoyable. Now - some practical advice - everything costs more than you think. Catering is expensive if you do it frequently. We negotiated a discount (because so many of our group are small children) and a week's meals still cost $2,000. But in my opinion, it's still totally worth it. Maria and Francesca are extremely nice! Transportation to/from the airport is also expensive. I recommend renting a car (we did) because you may want the freedom of movement while you're there. There is a vehicle on the property for guests to use, but it can't be taken far. Fishing costs a not-insignificant sum. We went in February (because we live where it's freezing cold in the Winter and we have to escape). It is very windy at this time of year to the point we could not take the boat out. Just keep this in mind. If you want to rent ATVs (a lot of fun on the beach), talk to Maria - her son will rent them to you through his company for much less than the Property Management company. There is a TINY grocery store nearby, but if you want anything resembling what you will need for meals, it is 30 minutes away in Los Barriles. Wasn't an issue for us since our meals were catered, but plan accordingly. Lastly, neither the chefs nor the onsite caretaker speak any English. In a world with Google Translate, that's probably okay, but it really helped a ton that I speak Spanish. If you have even rudimentary Spanish abilities, it will help you! In sum, this place is awesome. The people who work there are awesome and friendly. The property management company is very helpful and will answer any questions you have. We recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
Short but wonderful trip; weather perfect, water warm and calm, house very comfortable and private, food authentic. Great get-away after the holidays with lots of swimming, sunning, reading, kayaking, fishing and most important, relaxing.
