Sure, you drive by the homes of the stars all over the City of Angels. Now, it's time for you and your guests to live like a star in this red-hot movie/tv superstar's former home. You'll have the entire house and grounds which include an old school Hollywood swimming pool, paddle tennis court and ultra-deluxe Viking Professional outdoor kitchen.
Your express lane to old Hollywood begins in the living room complete with soaring ceilings, a limited edition Steinway, a staircase right out of the movies and a stunning fireplace.
The cook's kitchen has it all. A country farm sink set in a greenhouse window--again boasting stunning views of the mountains. A restaurant grade Wolf range with six burners, a double oven, a broiler and a griddle. (This keeps the kitchen perpetually cozy as it has no less than 462 pilot lights always lit). There are two fridges--one a subzero with adjacent fridge. Also, in the butler's pantry, you'll find a commercial glass door restaurant grade fridge and tons of storage. This kitchen is equipped with every imaginable gadget a top chef needs. Completing the kitchen is a 50" smart tv mounted on the wall. and a central butcher block with bar stool seating.
The Dining Room is adjacent to the living room and is the epitome of old world elegance with its French deco Sideboard, exotic wall coverings and subtle Venetian plastered ceiling. The expandable dining room table easily seats 10. It has a custom etched glass window overlooking a rose garden adjacent to the motor court.
The media room is a couch potato's dream come true. It has everything. Apple TV. Blu-Ray. A "vintage" Pioneer Elite plasma screen tv and one easy to decipher master control that makes finding your favorite program a snap. DirecTV is the carrier at the house and the viewing package includes all major premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.), a DVR so any recording is available in any room throughout the house, Audio-wise the house is outfitted with the Sonos System. It's incredibly easy to use and once you download the app onto your smart phone or tablet, you'll be listening to your music in seconds. It's also easy to access popular streaming services like Rhapsody and Pandora. Guests who stay here love it as you can listen to different music in different zones throughout the house: Living Room, Kitchen, Media Room, Master Bedroom (soon to come a pool/patio zone).
Master suite, with incredible bath/closets/fireplace, intimate office space with incredible mountain view--you'll feel you're anywhere but in the middle of Los Angeles until you see the klieg lights from a movie premiere just over the hill lighting up the sky.
Guest suite one upstairs features a queen-sized bed with a custom headboard upholstered in chocolate silk. Flat screen Sony 55" tv with DirecTV and Smart TV interactivity. An additional fun guest suite features: a Juliet balcony overlooking the home's motor court and the mountains beyond.
As classically Spanish as the rest of the house, guest suite 2 offers a completely different look: industrially chic with polished concrete floors, a wet bar, and its own separate entrance to a private patio complete with fountain (this area was featured as the cover of a special section in Harper's Bazaar Interiors magazine featuring the house). A massive metal desk is the centerpiece of the room. It was actually rescued from the garage and refinished. Guests are welcome to use the I-Mac in this room which has two massive monitors. Rounding out this room are a flat screen 50" "classic" old-timey Plasma TV left by the former owner so it has a very sexy pedigree. A brand new queen sized bed with leather style headboard rounds out the room.
A full guest bathroom with a bathtub is located on the second floor between the guest room and the office. Across from the bathroom is a closet for the guest room.
The Grounds
The pool at this estate is spectacular. If you use a popular search engine that begins with a g and type in "CJ, You fell in the pool there," you'll see Emmy Award winner Alison Janney in a memorable scene shot at the house (for West Wing fans--this was CJ Craig's house when she lived in LA). This pool is Old Hollywood...with a true deep end, and two built in seats with a perfect view of the outdoor fireplace.
On a terrace below is a paddle tennis court. This game follows the same rules as regular tennis, but using hard paddles. (Of course we have pool floats and tennis paddles/balls that we welcome you to use during your stay).
For the BBQ enthusiast, your dreams have been answered. The custom Viking Professional Outdoor Kitchen truly has no equal. It has everything: a state-of-the-art 60" gear complete with Tru-Sear grill-ology, a custom smoker. To keep things nice and toasty, a warming tray is just under the grill. The grilling area shares its counter space above with two burners, perfect for simmering some BBQ sauce on the side or steaming that corn. Down below, is a fridge perfectly located for the prime cuts you've been marinating all day. Pull a shelf and slide it right out.
Across from the grill zone is a gigantic island that does double duty as a fantastic buffet for outdoor dining. Also in this area are plenty of storage cabinets stocked with everything you need to flip those burgers and maybe mix a cocktail or two. An additional fridge is on this island--this one has slide-out drawers we use for beverages, an ice machine and a sink with disposal are also on this island. Bar seating surrounds one corner of the island. It's the perfect combo platter, sit at the bar, watch your better half grilling up a nice juicy steak, and look across the pool and up to one of Los Angeles 'most incredible mountain views.
Completing the outdoor pool area is the "boat house." Picture this: it's just like a cabin in a ship---starting with the fact that the whole room is finished in teak. Walls ceilings, you name it. Looking out over the pool is a gigantic porthole window. Underneath that is a twin sized elevated bunk. Built-in storage is everywhere. A flat screen tv is positioned at your feet; a desk folds down by your head. A teak door, of course with a porthole, enters a bath with a rain head shower.
Although you will be shocked by how quiet this neighborhood is, you're only a short drive to Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills--Laurel Canyon is just a mile away to the west; Downtown Hollywood--Dolby Theatre, you can easily walk down the hill (and Uber back up), you're minutes away (about two) from the legendary Sunset Strip.
What makes this compound especially unique is its double-street-to-street lot AND that's it's nestled in an area of the city that will never be developed as it is a "Canyonette" adjacent to Runyon Canyon Park and the Wattles Garden Park.

From the moment we stepped across the threshold of this gorgeous home, I didn't want to leave. There is so much convenience, thoughtfulness, personality, soulfulness and inspiration wrapped up in these gorgeous surroundings. The hosts go far beyond any reasonable expectations to give their guests a truly memorable experience. Fabulous for cooking outdoors or in, poolside relaxing, paddle tennis fun, lounging indoors with books or movies. A great location for hiking canyons, minutes from Hwd-Highland Metro station, short drives to Los Feliz, Griffith Observatory, Beverly Hills, Farmers Market/the Grove, Magic Castle. Shop gourmet at Bristol Farms down the street or stock up at Trader Joes, equally close. Coffee places, fresh juices, restaurants. Ideal in every respect!
I owned a home in the Hollywood hils for 29 years. Now downsized, I wanted a place for my family to stay for the weekend so we could all be together for my 90th birthday. This charming house and property were ideal. The indoor kithchen was perfect for meal preparation, and the outdoor kitchen and patio were perfect for our Saturday afternoon BBQ. Everything we needed for cooking and serving were handy and available. The bedrooms and living interior were perfect. Bill and Paddington had gone out of their way to make it easy to live here for three days. I loved it and my family loved it. Super weekend. We'll be back
The house is beautiful and ideally located. It is filled with a ton of charm, love and Hollywood nostalgia. The views are second to none. the only thing that tops the house are the owners. They are the two kindest and most accommodating people I have encountered throughout all of my travels. I have no doubt I have made lifelong friends!
