Birds & Bees Cottage, as the name implies is a romantic stone cottage with shingle roof trimmed with white gingerbread. It has a king sized 4 poster bed draped in netting, antique furniture, a huge 30' x 8' verandah with a hammock for those afternoon naps. Lovely views across the tropical garden filled with an assortment of flowers and trees with many birds flitting through. There is a palm fringed pool shared with Sapodilla cottage also in the 2 acre garden. Both cottages are very private and peaceful and well separated from each other.

Quiet and a piece of paradise
5 of 5
Our week at Birds and Bees was great. Between the birds and dogs we always had company while here. It's a charming place, close to English Harbor, but a taxi or car are needed for most excursions. Waking up to the sunrises were beautiful. The pool area is quiet and beautiful. We loved this place.

What a great place to relax!

The property is as good as it looks and we had a really enjoyable 9 nights. It is very "open concept", with birds flying in and out and visits from the dogs. If you enjoy birds you'll love feeding the bananaquits, hummingbirds and bullfinches. The swimming pool is lovely with a view of Falmouth Bay and the surrounding hills. The kitchen is well outfitted and there were some supplies waiting for us. Our only problem was with insect bites, towards the second half of our stay, and we needed to close up the shutters on those buggy nights because there are no window screens. Once in bed you are fine because of the netting on the big four-poster bed. The sounds of tree frogs, cicadas etc. lull you to sleep. Janie and Geoffrey are very kind and helpful hosts!

Island Retreat
5 of 5
We stayed at Birds & Bees Cottage for a week after sailing. The cottage was a perfect fit after being at sea. It was like an oasis when we arrived and each time we came 'home' after driving about . . . From the wonderful variety of trees and bushes that Janie painstakingly planted and nourished along over the years, the sweet birds (including hummingbirds) flying in and out, the geikos spying on us, the dear dogs that would visit daily, the views from the veranda to the harbor, the comfortably designed & decorated cottage, the well-appointed kitchen, the lovely pool area, the constant refreshing island breezes and most of all our gracious hosts Janie and Geoffrey with their great knowledge of the island and its history. We couldn't have found a better island retreat. We could not have found a better place to stay in Antigua and look forward to returning.

Delightful, romantic cottage in a lush tropical garden, with glimpses of the harbour.

Janie and Geoffrey are considerate hosts who made us feel very much at home. We appreciated the welcome pack and the vase of bougainvillea on the table. Thoughtful touches included a jar of homemade marmalade, and a local "pay as you go" mobile phone.
The cottage is charming, especially the veranda which has wonderful views of the lush garden and glimpses of the Harbour beyond. Living up to the name, we were entertained by numerous birds, but no bees! We loved our visits from the four dogs, especially Ingigo who has great charm.
Thanks to the breeze we found the cottage to be cool, despite having no AC. The kitchen is well equipped and a small BBQ is provided.
We enjoyed using the pool and when the sun became too hot, sitting in the shade under the gazebo looking out at the view.
The cottage is very well situated and there is a great deal to do around the area. We were in Antigua for the wedding of friends who live in Falmouth, so much of our time was involved with that event. However, it was wonderful to be able to retire to this oasis for rest and relaxation.

We again thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Birds & Bees. Every day was a perfect, if we went to the beach, went to the harbor, or just stayed and enjoyed the pool. Janie and Geoffrey were the perfect hosts and made the whole experience very comfortable. This was our third stay in Antigua and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. The Falmouth part of the island is our favorite and Birds &a Bees a wonderful place to stay.

Long stay paradise: enjoy the life!
5 of 5
I needed a quiet and relaxed place to write a book - and I found it! This is perfect for a long stay, out-of-season - when the island is quieter and you can really enjoy the beauty of the place and the friendliness of the people. So the weather is less predictable and some restaurants are closed - but it is well worth it in terms of all the benefits of a slower pace and no crowds (wonderfully empty beaches!). The cottage is great for long term occupation - good for working inside or on the veranda (to the sounds of birds and the wonderful vista of tropical gardens and sea) and it was a pleasure to self-cater. I liked the local shop (fresh local veg and keep an eye open for when fresh fish comes in - and try their ginger beer! - but also ask Janie about the local fruit and veg stall) and found much greater range of food available than I had expected. In hosts Janie and Geoffrey you have all the expertise and knowledge of the island you could wish for - as well as the most sympathetic and welcoming of hpsts that I could have asked for. Do take time to ride at the stables (Spring Hill) just below the house - and otherwise, enjoy! I spent one month here and it was not long enough!!! Thank you to everyone: especially Janie and Geoffrey. I look forward to a longer stay in the future!.

An enchanting environment, views to die and air conditioning supplied by the breeze. If you can drag yourself away from the refreshing pool all the facilities of Falmouth and English Harbours are nearby and many of the islands best beaches within 30 minutes drive. Not for 5 star 'all inclusives' but an authentic Caribbean experience with comfortable bedroom, adequate facilities and a living area opening onto a generous veranda where you can be fascinated by the antics of some very precocious birds.
Hidden away at the end of a track, amongst the trees and flowers of a lush tropical garden, the Birds and Bees Cottage is a million-miles away from the cookie-cutter resorts. If you want to get to know the real Antigua, Birds and Bees Cottage is a great place to stay and use as a base to wander the beaches and villages of this wonderful island. Janie & Geoffrey are really welcoming and having lived on the island for a large part of their lives, can give great insights into what to see and do. The Cottage itself is spacious, airy and well appointed. A huge, comfortable four poster gave us great nights' sleep, to wake to the sun rising across Falmouth Bay and the hummingbirds drinking nectar on the verandah. And Janie established the stables down the hill where you can go for wonderful hacks across to Rendezvous Bay and swim in the sea with the horses - an unparalleled experience.
