This lake front cabin sits on a secluded 5 acre peninsula, located on Lake Glen Shoals, in Hillsboro, Illinois. Built in 1999, it is made of 8 inch oak logs. It has one bedroom with a queen bed, a sleeping loft with 3 twin beds and an improved walkout basement with an entertainment center and a queen sleeper sofa. There are two full bathrooms and a clothes washer and dryer in the basement. Heat, Central AC & City water. Fully Functioning Kitchen including an electric range w/oven (Although compact, owner Tom Burkart managed to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for 20), refrigerator/freezer with automatic ice maker, microwave, dishes, silverware, pots, pans, cookware, coffeemaker; cappuccino maker & bagel Toaster. (If you bring or buy something to cook, the kitchen should accommodate.We have a home theater, with full surround sound, DVD player, and a Blueray player. There is DirecTV on the main and lower level. Board games, cards, etc. There are 2 fire pits, one located off the back patio of the cabin and one on the peninsula overlooking the lake. There is an assorted library of books containing John Grisham novels among others.

The lake is 1,250 acres and accommodates all water sports. There are two large designated no-wake areas for sailing and canoeing. There is a boat dock with swimmers ladder, and a large playing field for outdoor sports.

The cabin is less than 45 minutes from the state capital of Springfield, where you can visit the Abraham Lincoln presidential library and museum (plan on a full day). It is about 90 minutes from St. Louis, Missouri which features a free zoo, free history museum, free science center, and a free art museum that has been compared to the Louvre in France. 7 miles to the west is historic US Route 66.
