The charming cottage is everything and more. Super clean, very comfortable queen size bed, A/C that actually cools the whole cottage and kitchen conveniences with all the things you need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is no oven, but who cares? You have wonderful restaurants nearby. Marker 88 is so close you can walk and not worry about having that martini and driving. Heck, we kayaked over one afternoon for an early dinner, late lunch. Excellent food! Now I must mention the outdoor shower. We never used the indoor shower once in 5 weeks. (Did you ever take a shower outdoors and see the stars after getting the soap out of your eyes? Thrilling!) After a busy day, we sat under the tiki hut to watch the colors of the sunset and listen to the live music over at the restaurant. Just quiet enough to have a conversation, but loud enough that we did not use our Echo that we stupidly brought with us thinking we needed to have music. And, (and maybe regretfully) Wifi worked out there! The beach is spectacular and gives you full access without climbing down a sea wall or on a precarious ladder, or over coral rocks. Walk out on your sandy beach and climb onto your paddle board, get into your kayak, float on a noodle or just put on your snorkeling gear and see fishies, lobsters, barracudas, and several local nurse sharks within seconds. We actually had a manatee visitor in the basin next door. HUGE! We cannot say enough good things about this priceless little find. We also brought our bicycles and went to Founders Park (show them your rental agreement for free access to the park) about a mile away and played pickle ball. Founders also has a beautiful beach (although why go there? we had our own), a doggie park, tennis, a pool and walking trails. We are heartbroken that we will not be coming back to this cottage next year. We are having lots of company (everyone has invited themselves after they see how beautiful the Keys are) and needed a bigger place. Good luck with that! You have to know the mayor to accomplish this feat, but we got lucky. We will come back, but since I've written such a wonderful review, I probably shot myself in the foot as everyone will want to come back year after year to this little jewel box. Kathleen is a wonderful hostess. Gives you your space, but is readily available to answer any questions you may have. Do not hesitate to push the "RESERVE NOW" button. You will not be disappointed!
Vacationing at the cottage was the place to enjoy all the fun the Keys offer. Location perfect to shop in Tavernier or Islamorada. Walk to Marker 88 for cocktails or launch a kayak from the beach for an afternoon of paddling. Yes! A private beach! The cottage was comfortable with all the comforts needed for home away from home.
