We are located in the village of Fernandina Beach (2 mile bike/drive from Beaches) with historic buildings still in use for your favorite things - shopping, dining, ice cream/fudge shop, coffee shop, antiques, beach clothes. Just a mile the other way is all the modern shopping and necessities with your favorite chain stores

Our neighbors are also very friendly and ready to answer any local info questions or just give a friendly 'Good Morning'.

Our prior guests have been very happy and are willing to email a reference to you. At this point 6 families have located themselves in our area after staying at Coquina Cottage.

Only, 2 miles from beautiful Atlantic Beaches. A great place for snowbirds, golfers, fishermen & nature lovers! This is our home away from home and we would like to share it with a few special people who love to enjoy great places with beaches, small town walking, lots of water for fishing and boating, golfing attractions and lots of history. We love Pirates!

Coquina Cottage is a classic cottage which was modernized a few years ago, well insulated over and under last year for those few cold days and many hot ones (AC works well). Last year we also gave her a full exterior paint job, scraping down to some beautiful wood, then covering it again colorfully. This year (2015) we did the inside, again with color. She is after all our beach village retreat.

This is the place to stay for a month or two. Invite the kids & grandkids and get the sand in your sandals, then lay back in the hammock and nap.

Our Coquina Cottage has all the old original wood floors and charm, but modern appliances - all electric, plumbing, central heat/air conditioning with new insulation . Fully furnished with a great screened porch, including hammock and wicker furniture. Master bedroom has queen bed, guest has twin day bed and pull up twin trundle. Both with private baths. Has washer/dryer and roll away bed for extra grandkids. Small fenced backyard for pets or may be indoor/outdoor (pet fee required). We have a small doggy/cat door. Pets must be on a monthly flea/tick preventive and approved by owners in advance.

If you're into gardening, go at it! We have a larger side yard and front garden. Our lawn/garden guy does the regular stuff, but we welcome any additions to the garden. Pick your rosemary & lavender from our large bushes and plant some basil. Watering the mint helps too.

Amelia Island has activities for any age or interest. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Amelia River, water sports are readily available - fishing (salt & fresh water - piers, beaches & charter boats), kayaking (rentals available), water tours of Amelia Island and Cumberland Island with their wild horses, water people ferry to St. Mary's, GA and the ferry boat to Cumberland Island. The beaches are white and beautiful and great for walking, swimming or shelling. Sea turtles nest here in their season (summer) too.

Old Fort Clinch State Park has walking and bicycling trails, old fort tours and reenactments as well as camping for your excess visitors.

Golf courses - several good ones on the island - see our local link for info. You can rent a golf cart on the next corner or bicycles just down the street.

Cultural activities are always available in our village - The Little Theater, movie theaters, street concerts, Island History Museum, Art Groups, Nature Groups etc. Dining out is affordable and delicious with an abundance of great, local restaurants geared to the varied tastes of Fernandina Beach's many visitors.

Walking is a favorite activity, whether in historic downtown (where Coquina Cottage is located), or on the Greenway which bisects a portion of the island or just out the town pier to watch our famous sunsets.

Saturday morning Farmer's Market and sidewalk sitting for coffee or limeade for people watching are also high on our list of fun.

Hammock napping and breakfast on the porch with backyard barbeques are good year around on Amelia Island.
