Our property was once part of the old 35,000 acre Vanderbilt cattle ranch on the Cape Haze peninsula. Some of Florida best beaches are nearby which probably originally brought the Vanderbilt family to the area.

Our lot is over ¾ of an acre in what is perhaps the least developed section of the Cape Haze community. It is well protected on two sides by wild natural Florida habitats. A third side is protected by a well-established landscape beds with palms and other plants that provide a screen. Our property runs along 240 feet of Amberjack Creek, a tidal inlet, which provides shallow-draft access to the Gulf of Mexico (boats which draw in excess of 16 inches are not recommended for the creek, however, there are inexpensive slip rentals within 4 minutes of the property at Gasparilla Pass for larger boats). The creek abounds with wildlife. Fish from the backyard or watch for the herons, ibis, sandhill cranes, manatees and the multitude of leaping and swimming mullets and other varieties of fish.

The house has 3 sets of large, double or triple sliding doors that open onto the lanai, and provide views of the creek and mangroves. Walk down to the creek and disappear for a while with a good book. While his home is equipped for privacy and relaxation, and is also within close walking distance of the local post office, grocery store, bank and pizza parlor.

As members of the Cape Haze Property Owners Association (POA), we have access to the association's 400 yard long, private, Gulf beach, adjacent to Cape Haze on Don Pedro Island. The beach is accessible, by kayak, from Don Pedro Island State Park's 100 acre land base, 0.9 miles from our property. It is a 4-minute (280 yard) paddle from the Park's dock to our community dock on the island, then a 5-minute (500 yard) walk to the Gulf.

In addition to the beaches adjacent to us on Don Pedro (Palm) Island, accessible by kayak, boat or ferry, the closest beach by car is at 19th St. on Gasparilla Island (Boca Grande), about 10 minutes away. Once you reach 19th St. there is beach access on virtually every street all the way to the south end of the island, which is another 3-1/2 miles. So there are literally dozens of Gulf beaches. You can also drive north to Manasota Key in Englewood which is only about 15 minutes away. Once on Manasota Key there are three major county park beaches at (1) the north, (2) middle and (3) south end of the Key. In addition, there is Stump Pass State Park, which is at the very south end of the Key and is absolutely stunning.

It is only 4 minutes by car to the Boca Grande Causeway and about 20 minutes by boat (at 'no wake' speeds) to Gasparilla Sound & Gulf access from our property on Amberjack Creek. By car we are minutes (1 to 15) away from multiple resources including Gulf beaches, fine-dining restaurants, multiple state parks, nature preserves, walking & biking trails, boat tours, fishing trips, etc.

Each guest is provided with a personalized code for keyless entry valid for the length of their stay. Check-in is 4:00 pm and check-out is 10:00 am. The rental rate includes the cleaning fee for guests staying a month or more. For guest staying less than a week this fee is $80. For guests staying more than a week and less than a month (28 days) the cleaning fee is $50. Upon arrival guests are provided with a detailed Guest Manual, describing all of the ins and outs of the property, including entertainment system operation, trash day, local resources and activities, etc. Confirmed guests are provided with their access code and a PDF copy of the manual, by email, in advance of their arrival.

Rental fees for reservations made more than 60 days in advance of your arrival date can be made in 2 installment payments. In special cases such as long term rentals, other arrangements may be made.
