The living room with fireplace was one of the coziest spots we have ever encountered, especially with feet of snow outside. We were looking to unplug for a few days and this cabin requires it because there are only a couple tv stations and no wifi (cell service was fine though). The cabin overall is rustic and old school, but the basics are all provided and everything functions just fine without modern frills. Cabin sits on a dead-end road that we found to be far enough away from route 16 that we felt quite secluded and never once worried about our dog making her way into traffic. The stream is literally feet from the cabin and is beautiful, and there are some expansive woods at the end of the road that offer some short hikes. As other reviews note, there are some signs that a couple mice are around (very minor signs), but we expected a bit of that for a cabin in the woods in the winter months. When you're looking for the place, note that it's on the same side of the road as Tanglewood motels (the pin on the map was a bit misleading). Well water has some iron in it, but I trust is safe and the owners provided some bottled drinking options. Owners were also very accommodating and available, despite being in the middle of going through some health issues. We'd go back.
We stayed in this cabin in the woods for Christmas weekend. We loved having our dog with us. The fireplace was my favorite part as well as the beautiful stream right outside you could see from the couch. The cabin is close to all attractions. We had a wonderful time and the host made sure we found the place and that we were all set. She even offered to let us stay another night for free due to a snowstorm on the day we were checking out!!
Dear Paul, We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at your place! Thanks for letting us have this experience. Pros: The house is very charming, all the supplies provided, fire place/pit with all the fire wood. Just perfect! We did some short walks around the house and had great time inside too! Cons: No one was waiting for us. Therefore we had some negative first reactions because we didn't no what to do: 1. Founding the keys. 2. The house alarm was on, no idea how to disarmed it. 3. The house was freezing, I started the fire but the smoke alarm also triggered. 4. Where to keep the trash until we were gone because we saw a mice inside the house and didn't want to leave outside because of bears. Even though we had this negative first impressions, that cabin was amazing and this did not compromised our staying. I am just stating here as you asked for feedback. Best, Felipe
Rustic which makes it a relaxing stay. Loved the babbling brook. Paul and Barbara are very nice.
