You will NOT find a more affordable cottage with its living space of 2300+ sq ft layout or property amenities of the former Cedar Rail Resort on any of the Big Three Muskoka Lakes. We rent 7 nights minimum Sat, 2 pm entry - Sat, 10 am departure during high season from Mid-June to mid-September. It goes for $2,100/wk in high season times. The others nearby go for more that 2X more yet the Birch is the largest total space.
It can ONLY accommodate 8 people at any one time, including guests for the day. Children under 2 are not part of that total.
Located in Minett, Ontario, the Muskoka Birch cottage is a great place to spend a vacation. With a superb location on Lake Rosseau, it is in the "heart" of the world famous Muskoka Region of Ontario. Part of the Cedar Rail Community, The Birch is situated on a quiet bay facing east towards the sheltering islands that encircle Wallace Bay just 2 minutes south of Minett, 7 minutes north of Port Sanfield and 15 minutes north of Port Carling.
This bungalow cottage embraces a beautiful pine highlighted interior and has all the comforts of home. Our cottage is on 9+ shared acres on the waterfront and it is accessed from the mainland. The spacious setting features a tennis court and a full beach front, both of which are very rare for a cottage in the Muskoka region. Rates are adjusted seasonally. Cedar Rail Community
High Season mid-June to mid-Sept. rental is 7 n. minimum: Sat, 2 pm entry - Sat, 10 am departure. A superb location, on Lake Rosseau, the "Birch" is situated on a quiet bay facing east towards the sheltering islands that border the bay in which Minett is cradled. The community allows for privacy but also have some local guidelines and rules since 6 owners live there full time.
Located nearby, Port Carling offers a boat lock to Lake Muskoka and the "hub" is also located in the heart of various resorts, golf courses and unique communities which are typical of Muskoka, including nearby Santa's Village in Bracebridge and the Cranberry Festival in Bala. The Opera House of Gravenhurst prides itself with superb entertainment as does the dinner theatre in Port Carling. Honey Harbour on Georgian Bay is just 45 minutes away by car and the Moon River majestically flows from the nearby Bala Falls into the Bay. Autumn festivals like the Colour Cavalcade of Hunstville draw many visitors and Winter Fests are great times for winter enthusiasts who join in on curling, ice fishing, hockey and snow mobiling. Snow skiing is an hour away at either Huntsville's Hidden Valey or Mt St. Louis / Moonstone along the 400 highway.
Cedar Rail is a friendly community in which the members are owners, some of whom rent. Regulations are established by the community to safeguard its neighbourly and Muskoka setting. The property is wide and spacious with more than 200+ foot beach waterfront partially taken up by the privately owned boat house and the Cedar Rail community docks.Minimum Sat, 2 pm entry - Sat, 10 am departure during high season of mid-June to mid-Sept.

We prefer family rentals, no students or persons under the age of 25 minimum. Only adult, employed, mature singles please. Damage Deposits ($ 300-400) are required prior to the rental date and refundable after the rental period subject to all things being in order as per Renter Guidelines. The rates for the high season weekly will be $ 2,100 starting 2015 which includes the cleaning and garbage disposal fee.
As per Muskoka Regulations: Our septic tank capacity is for 3 bedrooms even though we have 5 bedrooms. This then means 8 persons maximum at any one time which includes day guests. Children 2 and under are not part of the 8. During Low Season, the utility costs are negotiated. Long weekend rates $950 for 3 nights in high season and holiday weekends. Check on availability since our family also reserve the Muskoka Birch.

Note: SAVINGS for month long rentals.Lake Rosseau shores are directly in front of the Birch cottage but a safe distance for children safety. The land gently slopes for easy access. The beach furniture and docks, as well as the Gazebo are yours to enjoy. The beach is wide and VERY safe with a gentle slope for 20-30 meters into the lake. You are on the western side resulting in diminished winds on such days. The bay is calm when the lake could be rough. The Birch is surrounded by colour from the natural surroundings and the perennial gardens in the spring, summer and fall. The fall takes the prize however with a full-colour cavalcade. In winter, the quiet days, star-filled skies and white blanket of snow and ice capture our attention.
