Trees line the private drive leading up to the house ensuring privacy on this 6 acre peninsula with 1600 feet of ocean frontage. There is ample room for parking in the circular drive with a stone based fire-pit to the east for those quintessential evening marshmallow roasts

Access the ocean from your own private float complete with swim ladder. Get ready for excellent kayaking, canoeing, birding, fishing and photography along a beautiful granite and pine, protected coastline winding in every direction. A private cedar enclosed hot shower awaits you outside or a hot soak in the ocean view tub inside.

INTERIOR: FIRST FLOOR

Enter the foyer under the covered porch and you’ll find a walnut accented den where the flat screen TV and entertainment center live. There is a queen sleeper sofa if you need a first floor bedroom. French doors allow the room some privacy.

The classic knotty pine living room boasts beautiful views out to Bragdon Rock. A wood burning stove ensures a cozy curl-up with a book on the couch or a game of chess. There’s room for everyone to gather here or spill out onto the wraparound porch.

The dining room is centered on the old English oak table (seats 8-10) in this specially painted room using Rudolph Steiner’s Lazure technique. Just outside is a screened-in dining room where you will enjoy many a meal.

Have fun cooking in the chef’s cherry kitchen. You’ll find plenty of counter and cabinet space, electric stove/oven, wood stove/oven, two refrigerators and a microwave. If you feel like grilling, a side door leads onto a gas-grilling porch

Off the kitchen is a second full bathroom with walk-in shower, deep jetted tub with ocean view, and a washer/dryer.

INTERIOR: SECOND FLOOR

A central staircase leads upstairs from the foyer to 4 of the 5 bedrooms, each of which sleep 2 in various configurations.

The queen-size master bedroom to the south has a clear view of both the water and woods, plus plenty of closet space and a mahogany dresser and desk.

Opposite the master is the twin-over-twin Moosehead bunkroom, but make sure you notice the original antique wall paper which gives this green tinged room a special charm.

The southwest bedroom down the hall, is distinguished by knotty pine wood paneled walls, a king-size bed, and an ocean view built-in desk.

Across the hall, the fourth bedroom has an authentic New England feel with original wallpaper and a special red spindled full size bed. To the right of the fourth bedroom is a full bath with tub/shower combo, with great ocean views. There is also a private outdoor shower.

The fifth bedroom is up a private staircase from the kitchen with two twin beds side by side, wood floor and exposed brick.

OUR LOCATION

Seal Cove is in the Sabino Colony area of West Bath. There’s a town ramp at the end of the drive to launch small boats and a meeting house to gather with other families at the various pot lucks and fairs and really get a sense of yesteryear.

You can bike or hike right from the house on quiet roads that lead to a 1000 acre Nature Conservancy reserve at the Basin. Beaches at Popham and Small Point are wonderful and close by. Bath and Sebasco Estates have golf and tennis on very pretty courses. There is even an old time bowling alley at Sebasco Estates, which is accessible by water.

Flying in? Seal Cove is a 15-minute drive from the Brunswick Executive Airport and 50 minutes from the Portland International airport. Concord Trailways buses connect to Portland & Logan International Airport in Boston. Amtrak services from Brunswick.

Pick up Maine ingredients for your culinary delights at farmers’ markets in Bath and Brunswick or shop at the local seafood market at Shaws or Bracketts supermarkets. Both towns also offer some of the best restaurants in Mid-coast Maine with Bath’s downtown along the Kennebec River and Brunswick’s main running from Bowdoin College to the Androscoggin.
