There are no next door neighbors at Lazy Bear's Rest. All you'll see from the deck is the view. Situated at the edge of 25 acres certified as a Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, Lazy Bear's Rest is the perfect romantic getaway for 2 in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Sightings of deer, wild turkeys, or even a bear or bobcat are possible.

The experience begins on the deck of this 900 square foot luxury accommodation. Enjoy the long range view of the Piedmont, Sauratown Mountain and Hanging Rock.

Once inside you'll be swept away by the interior. The living area includes a 50'' HDtv hooked to a home theater system, DVD, and CD player, gas log fireplace, full kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, ice maker, and everything you need to cook that special meal or cook on the gas grill on the deck.

The spacious bath is decorated in the Art Deco style. The bedroom, also done in Art Deco, has a queen size bed. In the closet you will find two fluffy robes to use after enjoying the sauna or hot tub, both located on the deck. In the evenings you can snuggle around the outdoor firepit.

A short hike from the cabin will get you to Lazy Bear's private spots for getting away from it all. Steps to the deck overlooking the spring pond make it easily accessible. Take a thermos with coffee and watch the sunrise from 'The Rock' at Lazy Bear Vineyard. Keep walking past Lazy Bear's Vineyard to access the short wooded path to Lazy Bear's private waterfall. There's a picnic table there, so you can pack a lunch or bring a book and listen to the water as it flows to the bottom of the mountain.

If you want to explore beyond Lazy Bear's neighborhood, we are convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt Airy, NC (Mayberry USA), New River Trail, Mabry Mill, Devil's Den Nature Preserve, Historic Hillsville, Olde Mill Golf Course, Blue Ridge Music Center, Rex Theater, Levering Orchard (seasonal outdoor theater), Chateau Morrisette, West Wind Winery and many more area attractions. Special events nearby include Floydfest, Galax Fiddlers' Convention, Autumn Leaf Festival (Mt Airy) and the Hillsville Flea Market. Numerous antique shops are within easy driving distance in Mt Airy and Galax. You can enjoy wine tasting at Villa Appalaccia (music events in the warm months), Shelton Vineyards, West Wind Winery (music events in the warm months), and Old North State Winery.

No pets are allowed on the property, so please make arrangements for your furry and feathered friends prior to your arrival.
