We had a very enjoyable, relaxing and quiet stay at Riversong Cottage. The cottage was immaculate and well-stocked. We loved the decor and all the little extras the cottage has to make your stay memorable. We spent lots of time on the deck enjoying the great views and watching the hummingbirds and the local wildlife. We brought our boat and enjoyed daily trips out onto Lake Koocanusa. We spent an afternoon at the beach at Wasa Lake and had a fantastic dinner in Cranbrook one evening. We loved exploring the many things the area has to offer. This is truly a little slice of paradise. Many thanks to our hosts Jan and Hentry.
We were instantly smitten by this wonderful house on Lake Koocanusa. It was everything we hoped for and more. The house was fully stocked with lots of towels, condiments and coffee - great selection of coffee. We loved sitting out on the deck and reading in the great patio furniture and watching the humming bird. We did lots of kayaking, biked to Tie Lake Lake and hiked in the mountains around Fernie. Our adult children loved it and we sure would go back. Jan our host answered all our questions and reassured us right from the beginning. The views and long vistas are beautiful. The best house in the area. Thank you for the relaxing family holiday.
We had a really nice stay at this home. It is very beautiful inside and it is nicely maintained by the host. Jan, the host, was kind and responsive with communication. The views on this property where simply divine - unobstructed water and mountainside views with sweet little hummingbirds fluttering around. In general I would say that our stay there was really enjoyable. I will mention a few things that surprised us though: 1) The house is closer to other homes than we realized. This didn't get in the way of us enjoying ourselves but the pictures made us think that the home was a bit more remote than what it was. 2) The lake where the home backs onto is not kid friendly. It was very cold and deep and had a pretty strong current. We even had to clarify that it was a lake and not a river with the neighbours. They explained that it is both a river and a lake because they "dam" it near the border in the summer. Anyway we were able to drive to a couple nice kid friendly lakes that were within 20 - 30 minutes from the home, which was nice. 3) There was an unflushed #2 in the basement bathroom when we arrived and a good amount of pet hair on the patio furniture, the kitchen floor, and the stairs in the house. If you have pet allergies I wouldn't recommend this property. In general the house was clean with the exception of what I just specified. 4) The host required a large damage deposit to book the property. This wasn't a problem other than the fact that in the main living are was a pristine white couch. With children this was simply a recipe for disaster so we had to lay sheets over the couch over fear of the kids dirtying the white cushions and us losing our damage deposit. That tactic worked nicely and we did receive our deposit back in full but the white couch made us nervous the whole time knowing we had a large damage deposit on the line. Anyway all in all we had a really enjoyable time and I would recommend this property to others considering it.
