Just 90 miles north of New York City, the Shaker House was hand-built over 20 years by architect Fritz Sulzer from IM Pei's Manhattan offices as his personal retirement home, and has a massive two-story pool and a large modern spa.

Blasted from the granite clefts overlooking the main house, the pool area consists of two heated pools, two waterfalls, multiple patios (including one in the water), custom lighting, and a thunderous sound-system that can stream music from any Apple device. It's like a private, 5-star resort was airlifted into the middle of a forest. As one guest commented, 'This isn't a house with a pool. It's a pool with a house!'.

There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in the main house and 1 bed and bathroom in a separate guest house, called the Smoke Shack. Each bedroom is entirely unique:

The Quarry Suite is built into the exposed rock and has a massive attached bathroom, which with an open shower, hand-laid emerald mirrored tile, and waterfall flowing from the exposed rocks is like a mini-spa in and of itself.

The Aviary is a window-lined bedroom on the top floor with a bed that sits on a lofted floor under a skylight and a sleeper sofa and large walk-in closet.

The Nursery is a large, light-filled bedroom with an attached, fully equiped crib room, so new parents can be close to their baby without having to fear going into their bedroom.

The Master Suite has modern, clean lines and a king-size thermarest bed. It's attached to a private, slate bathroom with a large rock-lined shower and brushed nickle fixtures throughout.

Le Petit Boudoir has two custom-built adult-length twin XL beds and a large cedar-lined closet. It's right next to a beautiful french-country bathroom with a large claw-foot tub to relax in.

The Smoke Shack was the original cabin built on the property by Fritz in the 1970s. With its all birch interior, rustic furnishings, loft sleeping area, full bathroom, kitchenette, and a 56' flat screen TV with cable and Apple TV, it is a fully self-sufficent home in and of itself.

The Great Room serves and the focal point of the Shaker House and contains four distinct social settings. The TV area has a 60' flatscreen TV with surround sound and a large sectional for seating. The fireside has a large central hearth, a bar, and seating for six. The dining area has a massive custom built cherry table that seats up to 16 people and opens into the kitchen, which is fully stocked with all the appliances, cookware, dishes, and cutlery to prepare a feast for the entire house.

Kids Only is a long playroom on the top floor with a 56' flat-screen TV, cable, Apple TV, Xbox, craft table, tumbling mats, toy-filled shelves and enough pillows and beanbags for up to 12 kids to have a sleep-over they will not soon forget.

The Sun Room, with a wet bar, beverage refrigerator, ice maker, beach towels, and pool-side dishware, serves as the perfect staging area between the house and the pool.

The Library is crafted entirely from cherry, gently lit by the large bay window, and fully wired for internet access.
