Type: Villa

The four-bedroom Villa Sirocco is one of a group of four villas in the Brawa Complex, each with a private swimming pool, hidden away in the rice fields, just five minutes' walk from a rugged beach halfway between Seminyak and Canggu on Bali's southwest coast. All of the villas are completely self-contained with private entrances accessed from a secure driveway. The close proximity of the four properties means that the complex is ideal for larger groups of people, or families, who want to be close to each other while still retaining an element of independence and privacy.

Villa Sirocco's contemporary architecture is complemented by shingle roofs, an abundance of glass, and a bold black theme with funky black furnishings and accessories, dark grey polished concrete floors and walls, and a flourish of cascading green plants, broad leafed taro and palms. This luxury Bali holiday villa comprises a two storey sleeping pavilion and rooftop deck, a single storey living and dining pavilion complete with open-plan kitchen, and a 3.5 metre relaxation gazebo resting within a walled courtyard around a 12-metre swimming pool.

The huge master suite, with its open plan sitting room, covers the whole of the upper floor. The view across the rice fields, punctuated with other luxury villas, with a glimpse of the ocean in the distance, is gorgeous, and this sweeping vista is enhanced on clear days by the magical sight of the Bali's mountain range. Despite the close proximity to Seminyak, the traditions of rural Bali still prevail; cows are herded through the fields and the sound of ritual music is carried on the breeze.

All four air-conditioned bedrooms are fashioned in grey polished concrete with walk-in closets fitted with glass shelves, and built-in queen size beds incorporating ceiling fans within their netted canopies. Three of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor; accessed from the pool deck via floor to ceiling glass doors. Two of these bedrooms are hugely spacious and one is equipped with an LCD satellite-channel TV and DVD player, while the third room is smaller and more suited for a child. Furnishings include built in desks, chairs, daybeds, and table lamps. Ensuite bathrooms are semi-open air, with pergola roofs and an abundance of leafy plants and flowering climbers; all have walk-in rainshowers and two have shallow sculptured bathtubs open to the sky. The enormous upstairs master suite has a queen-size bed on one side, a large sitting room on the other, and picture windows on all sides. There is an LCD satellite-channel TV and DVD player positioned at the end of the bed, and a sunken bathtub to one side of the bed. The ensuite bathroom is situated behind sliding glass doors and is fitted with a double washbasin and a walk-in rainshower, offering yet more glorious views through its tinted glass walls. The sitting area is furnished with huge built in sofas, and there is a small washroom in the corner. The final treat is an open air roof terrace with another built-in sofa, sheltered by a roof.

The timber pool deck extends into the open living room, where the decking fuses into a solid teakwood floor under a soaring roof hung with jingling shell lanterns. A pair of built-in cushioned L-shaped sofas in black, and two solid coffee tables are positioned at the front at pool level, on either side of three steps that lead to the dining room. On one side of the room is a wall of water with a fish pond and two small conifers, next to a guest washroom showcasing an ornate Lombok door inset with mother of pearl. The dining area is furnished with a long wooden table and soft-cushioned benches. To one side is a small open-plan kitchen and behind this is the service kitchen, where the staff will prepare delicious meals.

The enticing 12 x 4 metre swimming pool, together with its timber deck and a stone walkway, fills a walled courtyard, embellished with parlour palms, travelers' palms and flowering frangipani trees. There is a large "bale" relaxation gazebo positioned at one end of the pool, laden with yet more black cushions, making it a great place to chill out or enjoy a massage. The deck is furnished with sunbeds and there is also the thoughtful provision of a pool shower.

Surrounded by rice fields, Villa Sirocco is conveniently located 400 metres from the beach at Batubelig, which lies approximately halfway between trendy Seminyak and tranquil Canggu on Bali's southwest coast. This beautiful agricultural belt is home to some of the most luxurious private residences on the island. The nearby Seminyak and Petitenget area is just 15 - 20 minutes drive, and offers a bustling nightlife, with a wide choice of international restaurants, numerous bars, live music venues, nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques. For horse lovers, the Umalas Equestrian Centre is just a few kilometres away, and Nirwana Golf Course-designed by Greg Norman and renowned as one of the best golf courses in Asia-is a 20-minute drive.
