The five-bedroom Villa Ipanema is part of a group of four villas in the Brawa Complex, each with a private swimming pool, hidden away in the rice fields, just five minutes' walk from a rugged beach halfway between Seminyak and Canggu on Bali's southwest coast. All of the villas are completely self-contained in a secure driveway, with private entrances. The close proximity of the four properties means that the complex is ideal for larger groups of people, or families, who want to be close to each other while still retaining an element of independence and privacy.

Villa Ipanema - named after a beach neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro - presents contemporary architecture complemented by shingle roofs, an abundance of glass, and a chic purple theme with purple soft furnishings and accessories, grey polished concrete floors and walls, and a flourish of cascading green plants, broad leafed taro and palms. This luxury Bali holiday villa comprises a two storey sleeping pavilion and rooftop terrace, a single storey living and dining pavilion complete with open-plan kitchen, and a 3.5 metre relaxation gazebo resting within a walled courtyard around a 12-metre swimming pool. The view across the rice fields, punctuated with other luxury villas, is gorgeous. Despite the close proximity to Seminyak, the traditions of rural Bali still prevail; cows are herded through the fields and the sound of ritual music is carried on the breeze.

All five bedrooms are fashioned in grey polished concrete with purple accents, and fitted with built-in beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and safe deposit boxes. Three of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor; accessed from the pool deck via floor to ceiling glass doors, and two are located upstairs. Four of the bedrooms are hugely spacious with netted queen size beds and walk-in closets, while the fifth room (on the ground floor) is smaller and more suited for a child with a three-quarter size bed. Furnishings include built in desks, chairs, daybeds with purple cushions, and feathery purple table lamps. The downstairs ensuite bathrooms are semi open-air, with pergola roofs and an abundance of shrubs and flowering climbers. The upstairs bathrooms are situated behind sliding glass doors and offer yet more glorious views through tinted glass walls. All the bathrooms have walk-in rainshowers, two have double rainshowers, and four have shallow sculptured bathtubs.

The timber pool deck extends into the open living and dining pavilion, capped with a soaring roof hung with jingling shell lanterns in coordinating shades of lilac. The sitting area is furnished with a pair of built-in L-shaped sofas with purple cushions, a large flatscreen TV and DVD player, and two solid coffee tables, positioned at the front at pool level. On one side of the room is a water cascade with a Buddha statue, and a fish pond viewed through a glass wall. A guest washroom is also located in this area. Three steps lead to the dining room, which is furnished with a funky dining table for eight, high backed chairs with purple cushions, and a long desk-like table with a chair and two stools. To one side is a small open-plan kitchen for guest use, and behind this is the service kitchen, where the staff will prepare delicious meals.

The deck is furnished with sunbeds and there is also the thoughtful provision of a pool shower. The rooftop terrace is accessed via an external cantilevered staircase and features a pergola roof and a built-in daybed complemented by muslin drapes, a coffee table and lots of leafy plants. This terrace can also be accessed from one of the upstairs bathrooms.
Surrounded by rice fields, Villa Ipanema is conveniently located 400 metres from the beach at Batubelig, which lies approximately halfway between trendy Seminyak and tranquil Canggu on Bali's southwest coast. This beautiful agricultural belt is home to some of the most luxurious private residences on the island. The nearby Seminyak and Petitenget area is just 15 - 20 minutes drive, and offers a bustling nightlife, with a wide choice of international restaurants - including the famous Ku D' Ta, Living Room, La Lucciolaâ, Sarong and Sardine - together with numerous bars, live music venues, nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques. For horse lovers, the Umalas Equestrian Centre is just a few kilometres away, and Nirwana Golf Course- designed by Greg Norman and renowned as one of the best golf courses in Asia - is a 20-minute drive. The nearby Berawa Beach is known for its world-class surf breaks, offering an exposed reef break with consistent surf. The villa is 45 minutes' drive (depending on the traffic) from the international airport, and convenient for all of the Island's main shopping malls and tourist attractions, including Tanah Lot, Bali's most dramatic and venerated sea temple. At Batubelig Beach, a few hundred metres from the villa, a river estuary forms a lagoon traversed by a rope suspension bridge. This strip of coastline is popular with surfers but the currents are strong so it is not very safe for swimming.
